Spermatogenesis is the process by which male primary sperm cells undergo meiosis and produce a number of cells calls spermatogonia, from which the primary spermatocytes are derived. Each primary spermatocyte divides into two secondary spermatocytes and each secondary spermatocyte into two spermatids or young spermatozoa.Spermatogonia and Sertoli cells both adhere to the basement membrane. While the type A spermatogonia undergo mitotic cell divisions to differentiate from type A 1 to A 4 cells, some of the type A 4 cells differentiate into intermediate spermatogonia, which then divide once to form type B spermatogonia. The tetraploid primary spermatocytes are generated from the type B cells via one mitotic Spermatogonia were present near the basal membrane. Stage 4: (d) this stage was identified by the presence of step 4 spermatids. In the second row, leptotene primary spermatocytes were present. Step 10 spermatids were observed moving towards the luminal border. Between the third and fourth germ cell layers, pachytene spermatocytes were observed.
Spermatogenesis is a process of gametogenesis in males. The male germinal cells or spermatogonia present in seminiferous tubules undergo proliferation by mitotic division. A number of the spermatogonia cells undergo meiotic division and are referred to as Primary spermatocytes (diploid).
To explore the function of Srsf10 in male fertility and spermatogenesis, we mated Srsf10 Floxed/Floxed (Srsf10 F/F) mice, in which the exon 3 (104 bps) was flanked by two loxP sites, with Vasa-Cre transgenic mice in which the Cre recombinase driven by a Vasa promoter is specifically expressed in germ cells as early as E15 (Gallardo et al., 2007; Figure 1A, Figure 1βfigure supplement 1A and B).Fig. 7.2. Overview of the overlapping events that occur during late meiotic prophase of sperm cell formation. ( a) Schematic of the progression of male germline cells ( blue) during spermatogenesis. Cells are attached to the rachis through karyosome formation, then bud off of the rachis to undergo meiotic divisions.YImS2Q.
